| 2004. Vienna, Austria.
The wolves have returned.
The Pure War of 2000 has come and gone. Entire packs fell. Territories were claimed. Loci were lost. The Pure victory was near absolute, and then they inexplicably pulled out, retreating to seclusion in their territories in western Vienna.
Forsaken survivors emerged and finally struck back. Their numbers have grown. Yet they remain in disunity, as always.
The Forsaken bound the Thief, a powerful and enigmatic spirit that had consumed several loci, but then it mysteriously disappeared from its bindings.
The summer of 2004 saw an uprising in the Pure. One of Vienna's Forsaken had been kidnapped by Pure. Shortly after his rescue, Berlin and Linz both fell to the Pure. Heightened paranoia led Forsaken scouts to turn up signs of invasion and an unexpected ally gave warning of a gathering of the city's Anshega alphas.
While many of the city's packs were hardening their borders, three of Vienna's packs rose to attack the alphas. A preemptive strike at the Anshega protectorate, and their leader, Savas Kehaya, was killed. Yet a new alpha and his powerful totem have arisen, threatening to take Vienna for their own.
Yet even with the Pure threat, Wounds still burn in Vienna's Shadow. Hosts and rogue spirits run rampant in unclaimed territories and have begun to threaten the borders of those established. A reminder that the Forsaken's duty is not restricted to one side of the Gauntlet.
