The world is not what you think. Beneath skyscrapers' leering gargoyles, factories belching smoke and streets packed with the human throng lurk things we are not meant to see. Creatures dwell in the shadows and hidden places. They watch you, stalk you and prey upon your body and soul. The life you lead is a lie. Your darkest fears aren't make-believe. They're real.
Most humans do not know this hidden truth, they spend their lives in ignorance, blissfully unaware of the existence of those monstrous creatures that surround them. But every now and then it happens that catches a peek behind the blemishes of human society in the hidden world that lies beneath and worse yet, remembers. Throughout the ages this has spawned secret societies, paranormal investigators, demon hunters and secret Orders of the Holy Roman Inquisition, sanctioned by Papa Bull, to seek out and destroy the spawn of Satan than plagues humanity.
The life of these humans is life is fraught with danger. The "bliss of ignorance" has been taken from them and the existence of supernatural manipulation of and threat to humanity can not be ignored. However, the Hunter can not simply reveal this knowledge to mundane authorities since they will be branded as unstable and insane.

Hunters wage a desperate, clandestine war against the inhuman, ageless forces that manipulate mankind. They see their task as taking back the night from bloodsuckers, ravaging beasts, vengeful spirits and manipulative sorcerers. They must face mankind's worst fears made real in the most deadly game of the hunt in order to fulfill the task they have set before them to "Inherit the Earth".
On the other end are paranormal investigators, old fogeys and cronies, either genuinely and foolishly curious or with aspirations to use the supernatural to their own advantage - either way, they seek out the paranormal to study or exploit it.
