All too often arrogance accompanies strength, and we must never assume that justice is on the side of the strong.

The harder you train, the harder it is to surrender.
-- Vince Lombardi

A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.
-- Confucius

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.
-- Anatole France

Background.
Born on the outskirts of Linz in the late sixties, Leonhard Wagner grew up not knowing his father, and raised by his mother until her death at the age of 14. Following that, Leo worked in a textile factory, where one of the older workers took a liking to the kid, half-raising him as an adoptive son of his own. On his sixteenth birthday, his foster father introduced Leo into the man who would introduce him into his life's career. Starting in 1986, Leonhard emerged in the amateur boxing circuit, slowly building up towards the big leagues. No big claim to fame was made, and with the advent of the UFC in America in 1991, Leo and his trainer relocated to the states, where Leo began his career as a UFC fighter.

That would come crashing down in 1994, when two fighters alongside with his trainer would be found murdered in a local gym, killed when Leonhard underwent his First Change. Though not suspected in the murder, representing himself in the league following his change would be his downfall. His regenerative capabilities and general inability to be knocked out would find himself faced with alleged drug and steroid use accusations. Though accusations were dismissed, Leonhard decided to move from the City of Sin, relocating to Los Angeles.

From there, Leonhard would live with his newfound pack, tribe, and lodge for several years. The murder of his anshega uragarum love interest by his own pack's hand would have the man quickly leaving his pack and the city behind, relocating across the continent, and even across the ocean, until finally settling back down in Berlin in 2001. It would be short lived as well, as in 2002, the Pure would target Leo's pack, wiping all but himself and his pack's omega out in a night-time ambush. Fleeing Berlin, Leo would only find rest and solace in his hometown of Linz for a few months, where his sights would then turn to Vienna...

Roleplaying Hooks.
Roleplaying Notes
  • Anonymity: Though not completely forgotten, especially by several of the older wolves in the city, Leo has fallen off the radar, and has been out of the public's eye for over a year now. Besides the obvious exterior changes in appearance, word has it that the once-arrogant "loose cannon" of Vienna has undergone a strong personality change.

Normal Hooks

  • Martial Arts: Leo is known, among both the human and supernatural worlds, to be a expert in the field of Martial Arts. Prior to 1999, Leo made a small name for himself as a European boxer, then shifting over into the freshly-started UFC circuit in America. He is known for treating combat like an art form, and to himself, an art that needs to be perfected.

Werewolf Hooks

  • Blood Talons/Lodge of Garm: When Leo's name is mentioned, one of the first few things that would pop to some people's head is "Garmir." As a Blood Talon, and a member of the Lodge of Garm, Leo wore his patronage to Fenris-Ur and Garm-Ur like a soldier wears his uniform. Most, if not all of Leo's past glories were as a tribute to these two totems. And when he renounced his ties to both, a backlash as notable as his name amongst the tribe resonated. Now, most attribute the name "Leo" to "former Garmir." That is, if they will even speak his name at all.
  • Hunters in Darkness: Leo joined the ranks of Hikaon-Ur nearly one year ago, and is known to have a vested interest in Vienna's north marshlands, as well as the Green Prater within the city limits. His recent absence from the city hasn't done much for relations within Vienna, but in the surrounding areas, somewhat of a name has begun building for the rather fresh Meninna.
  • Auspice: Leo, at his very core, is a Cahalith. A prophet of dreams. A keeper of stories. And he's been around Vienna for quite some time now, and knows a fair amount about the city. He's a staunch believer in the dreams he's gifted from Luna, and rumors have it that he's capable of even asking for dreams from the luminous mother at his will.

Location Hooks

  • Green Prater: Following the aftermath of Dead Man's Hand, and the murder of Johnny Southside, Leo's taken a personal vow to protect the park. With the approach of Riley and Benjamin Connor, and the formation of the Whisper's Echo, his presence in the forests has only increase.
  • Berlin: Leo took up residence in Berlin from 2001 until the later part of 2002. Like several, he was forced into retreat from the German Capital following the Pure's systematic assaults upon the Forsaken packs. Several of his early prominent marks of renown were earned within the city here.
  • Linz: Leo was born and raised in Linz prior to starting his career as a fighter. Linz was also a several month stop immediately prior to his move to Vienna. And recent rumors hold that his face has been seen in the recent Uratha conflicts that have swept the city leading up to the Forsaken's reclamation.

Supernatural Hooks

  • Mages: Leo's met only a number of mages that can be counted on one hand, but as varied as the spectrum of magical prowess is, he's only run into those that are fully capable of killing him without so much as lifting a finger or breaking a sweat. And given there's not much in the world that Leo thinks can kill him, this has him extremely wary of the magical world. A wariness only trumped by an insatiable curiosity for learning more of the things unknown.
  • Vampires: Leo can only count the number of vampires he knows on his other hand, however, the interactions between those few have shaped his ignorance into a curiosity chasing another untapped fountain of knowledge in a world full of mysterious things.
  • Changelings: Leo's mated to one, and he's learned quite a lot about what the Fae world has to offer after a temporary immersion into the hidden aspects of Fae culture. Unlike Vampires and Mages though, he treats Changelings more like real people than the other two.
Allies & Regular Contacts.
Pack

Riley09.jpg Riley Connor: I left after the birth of the alliance we formed. I held worries that day, but coming back to see all you have done for the pack that has formed has dispelled any doubts and regrets. A true Alpha, one that I can respect and trust.

Benjamin01.jpg Benjamin Connor: Almost an opposite of the Alpha at times, yet, complimentary to her nonetheless. As her twin brother though, I wonder at times if he can overcome the blood relation, and step up as Beta when the time calls for it. I'll wait and see.

Dietrich R.JPG "Frost" Rothsankt : An old, wizened, battle-hardened Rahu. I'd love for no other type of Rahu at my side. And I've seen him prove himself time and time again in Linz. I'm glad he's come to Vienna, even more so now that he's come to our pack.

Vic1.jpg Victor Stohl: I've not formally met him yet, but if he's won the trust of the twins, I'll trust in their judgment. For now.

Staci10.jpg "Staci": I've not formally met her yet, but if she's won the trust of the twins, I'll trust in their judgment. For now.

Kao8.jpg Kaolin Rieter: At first glance, one would think her a warrior of the People. I've come to find out that, while she may only be just a Blooded, she carries herself just as much as any of the Uratha. A noble, if not dangerous, attribute to have.

Allies

KityaTest.jpg Kitya Stryker: My future wife. And there's more than meets the eye with her. Though, I think we're both ready; her problems will become mine, and mine will become hers. I just hope that said problems will receive a solution at some point.

Donna2.jpg "Rowan": It's quite the interesting relationship we have with one another. But, I can think of no better friend and ally to have, than a person who can outright destroy me before I can finish a single thought against her. Not that I would think ill of her anyways, regardless of power.

Notable Information.
Spirit Rank Bullet.jpgBullet.jpg: The name Leonhard Wagner was once known for Glory and Honor amongst the central European region, and an upstanding member of the Blood Talons and Lodge of Garm. Known just as well, is his renunciation of the tribe after five years, and his subsequent stripping of nearly all of his achievements. Currently, Leo is just under a rank three spirit, slowly reclaiming his name, but as a member of the Hunters in Darkness. (Glory: Bullet.jpgBullet.jpgX; Purity: Bullet.jpgBullet.jpg; Cunning: Bullet.jpg; Honor: Bullet.jpgX; Wisdom: Bullet.jpg.)

Strength/Stamina Bullet.jpgBullet.jpgBullet.jpgBullet.jpg: Leo's physically built, and it's completely evident just by one glance at his physique. If there was any doubt, a handshake, or in some cases, a fist to the face, will suffice just as well. The man takes pride in his form, and is constantly striving to maintain his body at peak performance. There is a modest amount of self-restraint, as he's not pushing himself beyond the realm of "above-average".

Brawl Bullet.jpgBullet.jpgBullet.jpgBullet.jpgBullet.jpg: To the werewolf community, and some outside of it, Leo is know to be a master of the martial arts. As a former boxer and mixed-martial artist, Leo's technique holds no specific focus. Rather, it's a blend of several schools, primarily influenced by the Wun Hop Kuen Do branch of kajukenbo, and is designed to be extremely adaptive to counter his opponent's techniques.

Roleplaying Quotes.
  • "I don't know," Ludwig admits, "Leonhard does what he does and that's part of his charm. He's sort of like a large truck on a hill, put in neutral. There was a time we could have stopped him, but now we're all fascinated with what happens at the bottom of the hill."
